The bison is serving as a great national symbol of the USA. Along with their formidable size, bison has several unique traits that help to identify them. They can grow up to 2 feet long. A male bison can weigh upwards of one ton, and a female can weigh about 900 pounds. They are mostly like low growing grasses and sedges. Bison is constantly on the move, and they even walk while they eat. The average lifespan of bison that survives to adulthood can live around 20 years. They like open plains, savannas, and grasslands. Bison communicates by hearing and smell. They are also grunt, snort, and growl.
